WOOD:CHOICE CUTS

When constructing a building all kinds of wood will be used; boards, logs, beams... the same happened, musicwise, when compiling this CD, each track has it's specific place and functions as an integral part of the whole.

Two independant labels from opposite ends of the world discovered they were more or less fishing in the same pond, so to speak. They decided to join forces. The first joint release is WOOD : CHOICE CUTS, a compilation of 16 tracks, a total of 79 minutes of music, 99% of which was never before released.
The musical styles on this compilation are diverse, covering a broad spectrum ranging from minimalistic and introvert moody soundscapes to uptempo Drum & Bass. Most tracks are downbeat though, and sampling and the use of found-sound prevails in all tracks.
WOOD shows the maturity of a new breed of producer, who're using sampling no longer as a replacement for authentic instrumentation [or genuine inspiration], but demonstrating here its validity as a standalone instrument which can help produce excellent music in the right hands. These are not the loop and paste methods of early years, but the precise orchestration of composers who have made the sampler their weapon of choice.
