It has been a while since the last update.
Lots of stuff happened, and I could start a rant here, but no, I'll just let you know the
outcome.
At this time we are looking for only the
best possible material to release.
Economically speaking it is a bad time for the music industry, in particular for a small
label operating in a niche the way we do. So that's why. We will never get rich, but we
will leave our children a nice collection of excellent music, carefully produced and
marketed. And that's all we are after, believe me !!
Our releases are still available and still
sound as fresh as the day they were released. So
check them out.
For people living in Holland or the European Union, you can order our stuff very simple by
clicking here. Ask for info !
older news, but still relevant :
dDrecords teamed up with TarMedia, an independant label based in Canada, [which unfortunately has gone bankrupt in the meantime].
We checked eachother out and found we were more or less 'fishing in the same pond' so we
decided to join forces !
Our first and only joint effort is a compilation called WOOD : choice cuts, released in Canada / USA and Western Europe. At this
time the release is a fact globally and reviews are showing our success
!!
This compilation has 16 tracks, including new exciting material by Avenging Space and Viktor Sjöberg plus a great track by Amsterdam-based e g o , still an unknown name at this time, but this guy
[aka Baz Mattie] used to be the drummer with Junkie
XL and has a resume that spans over 15 years of
professional musicmaking. His solotracks sound like a crossbreed between MASSIVE ATTACK and MILES DAVIS' cool
jazz... Expect it to be mindblowing. A mp3 is available ! Check this link for more details and soundclips /
MP3's.
The rest of the compilation is filled with tracks from all over the world, USA, UK,
Canada., Norway, Switzerland, France..
The new AVENGING SPACE tracks seem quite different from their album when first listening to them... instrumental, more minimalsounding and less of a traditional songstructure.. Rene Ahoud's skillfull instrumentation is still the basis of the suggestive soundscapes, a splendid mix of electronics, samples [found sound] and live instruments.
A review of Viktor Sjöberg's new album Audio Architecture can be read here.
